How it Works
Getting started is easy. Whether you're a student looking for extra work in your spare time, or a customer looking to support local college students, following our few easy steps will get you there.

Select a job category for what you want done with the desired date, time, and hourly rate along with any other details of what the job entails. - CONNECT
Surfboard allows you to filter applications by skill level, rating, and vicinity, to ensure that you have the tools to select the best possible candidate for the job. Feedback and ratings from previous work will be available inside each applicant's profile. - COMPLETE
Once an applicant is selected and both parties agree to the terms set, you are connected in a chat to discuss further details. When the job is completed, all payments are taken care of seamlessly inside the app.

Home owners and residents are instantly connected with college students in the area who will complete the desired tasks.

Ryan | CEO
As the youngest child in a family of four, Ryan has been dodging chores since before he could walk. That passion combined by his entrepreneurial spirit, best displayed in his neighborhood lemonade stand prowess, embodies what he brings to the table as a leader—and makes him wish Surfboard existed when he was younger. Ryan currently attends the University of Rhode Island and fully understands the financial challenges college students face everyday.

Troy knows numbers. Possessing a sharp mind and creative personality, the intersection of finances and marketing is a cozy nook for him to flourish. Troy’s always pushing the boundaries, always taking that extra step out into the unknown, making him the ideal partner to team up with turning this once “Aha moment” into a reality.
Vision / How We Started
We’ve been in college. We know how far a dollar can go and how class schedules can leave you with windows of free time. 9-5 isn’t the way the world works anymore, and it’s time employment opportunities reflected that. Surfboard is our way of connecting people who want work with people who have more on their to-do list than hours of free time. We’re two friends pouring our passion into a project we enjoy and we’re having a good time doing it. We’re going to keep riding this wave with Surfboard, and we hope you like the product we’ve put together.
The Surfboard Foundation
The Surfboard Foundation was formed on the idea of a better tomorrow. Our moms taught us the importance of leaving your spot at the beach in a better condition than when you got to it, so a non-profit is an integral part of the positive impact we want to have on the community around us. TSF’s main goal is to help put as many underprivileged students through college as possible because we know there is nothing more important than being able to give somebody the tools to further their education and earn a diploma. Every single time you use the app, you’re not just hiring labor, you’re helping someone fulfill their dream of getting a college education.
FAQ
All posting is free! Once a transaction is completed, a small fee will be taken from the total amount. A portion of the proceeds will go directly to The Surfboard Foundation.
Payment is taken care of seamlessly inside the app once the job is deemed completed. The money will be transferred directly from one bank account to the other.
Yes, not only can students hire other students, but it is encouraged.
Under the settings tab on the side bar menu, there are two buttons labeled “Hire you” and Hire me”. “Hire you” allows you to hire fellow students, while “Hire me” allows you to look for prospective work.
Contacting the Resolution Center will help resolve an problem that you have. You can contact the Resolution Center via the app under the specific job that it applies to, or from our website.
Contact the Resolution Center and they will take care of any refunds deemed necessary.
If a student or homeowner cancels within a 24 hour period, they will be a charged the amount of one hour of work (amount varies on what the rate was set at).
Work is reserved for college students only.
Yes, personal information will be secure and in no way public knowledge. The only information other app users will be able to see is your name, age, skills you’re proficient in, and feedback on previous work completed, along with a personal bio if you so choose to do write more about yourself.
